One of the challenges for the construction industry is to ensure that products that are specified are the products that are installed. BSI Identify helps achieve this. It provides a product with a lifetime marking, allowing the user immediate access to a technical datasheet and all of the product information they require.

Prior to BSI Identify becoming an option, as a company we would spend hours and hours sifting through our archive system trying to find which product had been supplied on a particular site. Now we have BSI identify, the process couldn't be easier.

''For me, signing up to the BSI Identify service was a complete no brainer. BSI Identify takes away all the uncertainty relating to specification, installation, etc. To see exactly what the product is, what its properties are and how it should be utilised, you simply scan a QR code. So, even if you're on a cherry picker that is scaling a 15-storey building, if an asset has the necessary QR code, all that's required is a scan with as mobile phone to immediately ascertain what the building asset is and what it's designed to do. Implementing the BSI Identify system was incredibly simple. We simply had to take all of the different tapes we use on our products and print a QR code on them.

The sooner we get to the stage where every manufacturer uses BSI Identify, the sooner we will reach the moment when every product on site has a QR code. Achieving this will ensure everybody involved in the selection, installation, maintenance and checking of the products will know exactly what's going on in front of them.
